Get in the Merry go Round – Eploring the rhythmic possibilities of the Cercle Circassien
This workshop is meant for musicians who want to get more experience in playing together and playing for dancers. Dances like Cercle Circassien and Jig are fun to play and have lots of opportunities for using rhythmic variations yet they are seldom teached in workshops.
Furthermore Cercles and Jigs can be played a 15 rounds or more during a dance to give every dancer a chance to meet as much different dance partners as possible. So the question is how to keep the music interesting for dancers and for the musicians themselves.
In this workshop we will try to find solutions to this question. We’re going to:
– explore a diversity of rhythmic accents in 6/8 time.
– use melody instruments for building chords
– let dancers spin out of control by throwing in dozens of dazzling triplets
Places in the music workshops are limited, so to join this workshop, it’s important to register. You can do this by filling out this form.
