The collaboration between Filippo and Emilyn originates from the mutual friendship and musical collaboration with Canadian composer and fiddle player Oliver Schroer, a great artist who passed away in 2008.
Filippo Gambetta is an Italian multi instrumentalist (diatonic accordion and bandolim) and composer. Hailing from Genoa, in northern Italy, Filippo began playing the diatonic accordion at the age of fourteen; his music is steeped in northern Italian folk idioms, but also taps Nordic, Celtic, Balkan and other global inspirations. Filippo and Emilyn propose a concert focused on the Bal Folk repertoire proposing both traditional and original music.
The duo presents in 2016 Filippo’s new album Otto Baffi, performing in festivals such as Kaustinen Folk Festival (Finland), FestinVal (Italy), Touscouleurs (Italy).
Otto Baffi is Filippo Gambetta’s fourth album of original compositions for diatonic accordion, which features the piano playing of Emilyn Stam on 3 tracks.
